 Summer Crop

Mario - Out of Space

The tracks are taken from any sort of input gained in spring and summertime. Some reflect relationships that suffer from travelling and being restless even in constant environments. I tried them at a lounge (where I work) and on various car rides. They work.

1. 30 Century Man – Scott Walker
Although Scott is not among my favorites, this very short song reminds me of how amazing The Life Aquatic is…

2. Starman – David Bowie
Bowie offers a lot of his songs for that soundtrack: Starman is one of them. This is the original though, not the Seu Jorge one. I want to be a starman.

3. The Comets are Coming – The Washington Flyers
An older glam rock compilation of songs that never quite made it brought to me by my knowledgable cousin. I find it a great song. It makes me want to accepts all sorts of things and nod my head in the rhythm.

4. Death or Glory – The Clash
Very significant things…Death and Glory. I mostly associate smoking hookah and lounging with old and new friends.

5. I Wish It Would Rain – Wreckless Eric
So much rain in Germany over the summer. Some ties were renewed, some are forever lost. Rain is pure and honest, if we keep the environment clean…

6. Broke – Modest Mouse
I don’t get tired of this one for its excellent lyrics and melody. I couldn’t describe a distinct situation related to the song. Maybe the general tendency of things to brake after a while..

7. Love Will Tear Us Apart – Joy Division
It will. No doubt about that. Triggered a stronger interest in Joy Division, which lead to some live recordings and the Anton Corbijn movie Control.

8. A forest – The Cure
Mysterious and a bit lost.

9. Black Panther – Crystal Castles
With lightspeed out of the unknown spheres..into our times.

10. Wildcat – Ratatat
A smooth electro beat that I dug from the first time listening. As simple as that.

11. 48 Stunden – Kettcar
A beautiful song about a break-up somewhere in the north of Germany. Incredible choice of words, plain and strong…”Es tut uns nicht leid”..

12. Reckoner – Radiohead
I don’t know what he is singing about. I does not seem to matter as long as voice and instruments work together like that.

13. The Good, The Bad & The Queen - The Good, The Bad & The Queen
Not a song for comic figures. It had to be a new band. My way to work often took exactly 7 minutes.

hip-hop heavy.  you'll like it.

i'm a girl scout. i prepared a video mix of all the songs that i have loved
before to play during a bad work day. today is one of those days, and the
fact that dolly parton just came out of my speakers is making all of the
difference, as i stare at my stupid dos screens and outdated Word.

anyways, have a look, have a laugh. i still stand by live's "i alone."
